The Union of Veterans of the War for Slovenia - Zveza veteranov vojne za Slovenijo (ZVVS) - is a patriotic, independent, impartial, non-profit and non-governmental union of district veterans associations of the War for Slovenia. The associations include people who either prepared for or took part in the War for Slovenia. It combines people who either regardless their political or ideological beliefs actively took part in preparation for the war or who were actively involved in the defence activities in the war for an independent Republic of Slovenia between 17 May 1990 and 26 October 1991. The Union is also member of the World Veterans Federation.

The official day of our Union is 17 May, when in 1990 the operation Manoeuvre Structures for National Defence - MSND (Manevrske strukture narodne zaščite) started. It is called REJECTION DAY, for the refusal to follow the order to hand in weapons from storehouses of the units of the Territorial Defence (TD). People who disobeyed this order prevented total disarmament of the units of Territorial Defence and established defence forces for the new emerging country and the material and technical pre-conditions for the later successful defence against the military aggression of the Yugoslav People's Army in the year 1991.
